Our onboarding process guides teachers through the steps to submit the required documents and information. Your application status can be tracked through your Excelsi account. 

All tutoring sessions on Excelsi are conducted virtually using digital tools designed for online education.  We do not support in person tutoring classes. 

Video conferencing, digital whiteboards and teaching resources are integrated into the Excelsi online virtual classrooms. All you need is a computer or tablet and a high speed internet (Wifi/4G) connection to connect with students.  Please note that we do not recommend using smartphones for tutoring purposes.

No.  Excelsi does not require any prior experience with an online learning management program or video conferencing tool. Excelsi tutorial videos and online helpdesk web pages orient tutors to how our digital classrooms work.  Excelsi also has a library with tips, based on our experience with virtual teaching, on how you can make your online instruction the most impactful and effective. 

On Excelsi, you have complete scheduling freedom.  There is no minimum time requirement and no maximum limit. You set your own schedule depending on your availability.

Payments will be processed no later than [72 hours] after every completed tutoring session. A session is complete after the post-session questions have been completed by the tutor. Check your personal account to ensure all of your post-session questions have been completed to initiate a payout. 

Parents and students have the option to choose which tutor they would like to work with based on their specific needs and requirements.  During the tutor onboarding process, tutors will have the ability to share information that can help showcase their teaching proficiency, skills or accomplishments in a certain subject(s) and grade level(s). Parents and students start off by searching for a subject and grade level for which they require tutoring.  Based on a student’s learning styles which have been highlighted during the student onboarding process, Excelsi’s intelligent pairing algorithm will suggest which tutors best meet their needs, but ultimately it is the parent’s and student’s choice which tutors they would like to work with.  Our comprehensive ratings system also highlights feedback from parents and students that will accurately reflect a tutor’s performance.

No. Teachers are not employed by Excelsi. Teachers whose schools or districts either restrict or require prior permission to take on additional employment are free to use Excelsi.  

Tutors are free to teach any subject and provide general curriculum support or any test prep assistance of their choosing for K-12 grade levels. 

The hourly rate for lessons on Excelsi is based on a teacher’s experience. The experience levels on Excelsi are Instructor, Master and Expert based on under 5 years, more than 5 years or more than 10 years of teaching experience, respectively. Pricing ranges from $xx for an Instructor to $yy for an Expert level teacher. You have the freedom to be flexible with your learning needs, sessions are purchased in advance, but no packages are required.  

In order to make the tutoring session most impactful, we strongly recommend that you watch Excelsi’s video tutorials to learn all the features and functionality of our digital classroom. We also recommend that you use your personal Excelsi dashboard to upload samples of recent classwork, assignments, tests and/or quizzes so that your tutor can help you get started in the right direction.

At the time of onboarding, tutors are required to submit official documentation and other requirements that allow Excelsi to verify teaching credentials, licensing and/or certification. Only after these documents have been verified do tutors get access to the Excelsi marketplace.

Once you have selected the tutor you wish to work with, you can easily see their availability on your dashboard. You can simply select the time and date that is convenient for you and send a message to request a tutoring session.  Once the tutor accepts this request, you will receive an email notification with a link for the online tutoring session.
